Fatal Delaware County Plane Crash Claims the Lives of Roger Beggs and Family En Route to Georgia

Masonville, New York — Tragedy struck on Sunday afternoon in Delaware County when a plane crash claimed the lives of five family members from Georgia, including 76-year-old Roger Beggs. The New York State Police have confirmed the identities of the victims, who were traveling back from a baseball event in Cooperstown.

The crash occurred around 2 p.m. on Lake Cecil Road in Masonville. Authorities conducted an extensive search operation using drones, ATVs, and helicopters before discovering the wreckage. The victims have been identified as Roger Beggs, 43-year-old Laura Van Epps, 43-year-old Ryan Van Epps, 12-year-old James Van Epps, and 10-year-old Harrison Van Epps.

The family had taken off from Alfred Nader Regional Airport in Oneonta and was headed to West Virginia for refueling, with Atlanta’s Cobb County International Airport as their final destination. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by the New York State Police, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the National Transportation Safety Board.

In response to the heartbreaking news, friends and loved ones have expressed their condolences on social media. Peach Hubbard posted, "We are most appreciative of all the heartfelt condolences for our families. Your support and love comforts us." Maureen Bozovich added, "My thoughts and prayers are with you Peach. Soo sorry for your loss."

Sharon Cohen Huddleston also shared her sorrow, saying, "So sorry for your loss," while Mary Daniel Templeton Rives wrote, "Praying you are covered with love and peace as you navigate this unimaginable loss. Sending my deepest and most sincere condolences."

The community mourns the loss of Roger Beggs and his family as they come together to remember the bright light they brought into the lives of those who knew them.
