Fayetteville Community Pleads for Help in Ongoing Search for Missing Man, Evonte Jaquez McNeill

Fayetteville, North Carolina – Nearly a year has passed since the disappearance of 25-year-old Evonte Jaquez McNeill, who was last seen on November 24, 2023, after being discharged from Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. The Fayetteville community, alongside McNeill’s family, continues to search desperately for any information that could lead to his whereabouts.

Evonte McNeill, a Black man, stands 6 feet tall and weighs 160 pounds. He has distinctive tattoos, including "LONG LIVED GOLDIE" on his left hand, "LIFE GOES ON" on his right hand, "MOB" on his neck, "KELLY" behind his right ear, and 10 stars on his left forearm. McNeill has a medical condition that requires regular medication, heightening concerns about his well-being.

The search for McNeill has become increasingly urgent, with his family and the Fayetteville community rallying for support. The situation has been particularly distressing as the holidays passed without any news, and the fear for his safety continues to grow.

Facebook has become a platform for community members to share their thoughts and prayers for McNeill and his family. Karma KaJun shared, “I’ve been praying for this family since he was posted missing. I am hoping they find him in another city or state and he has no memory. This world is so cruel and I really want his family’s outcome to be good and not bad.”

Another community member, Kaela Trahan, expressed her concern, saying, “I don’t even know this man and I think about him all the time. I listened to the 911 calls that were released when he left the hospital; he was really needing some help. I hope his family gets their closure someday. I’ll forever be hugging them in my heart.”

There has been frustration directed towards the institutions involved in McNeill’s case. Michelle Webb commented, “CFV should be held accountable. Why on earth would they not have protocols in place for discharge planning when someone is in a mental health crisis? They should be responsible for helping people find safe places to go. Cape Fear is an absolute joke!”

As the search continues, some believe they may have seen McNeill around the city. Maurice Dominick Tucker mentioned, “I have seen him for a couple of weeks. I gave him water every time he stops by. He usually hangs out at Longhill Point Apartments.”

The Fayetteville Police are urging anyone with information to come forward. The community’s call to action emphasizes the critical need for assistance in locating McNeill, as every detail could be vital in bringing him home safely. Those with information are encouraged to contact Fayetteville Police at 910-850-4122 or submit anonymous tips at 910-483-8477.

As the days continue to pass, the community holds onto hope for McNeill’s safe return, keeping his story alive in the hearts and minds of those who care deeply for his well-being.
