Fiona Green, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, August 20, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones, is being remembered by her family and friends for her indomitable spirit and vibrant personality. Her daughter, Georgina Benson Green, announced the sad news on Facebook, highlighting Fiona’s courageous battle with cancer, which she fought until the very end. "Cancer officially met its match!" Georgina wrote, expressing admiration for her mother’s strength.
Fiona was described as "the life of the party" who never did anything by halves. Her daughter reflected on Fiona’s wish to have a massive celebration rather than a traditional wake, saying, "Now is the time to throw her the best party ever!" To fulfill this wish, Georgina has organized a fundraiser to cover the costs of food and drink for a celebration that will honor Fiona’s life in a venue filled with special memories.
The fundraiser, titled "A party for Fee Fee," has already surpassed its goal of £500, with £775 raised from eight donations as of today. Contributions have poured in from friends and family, including Bruce Kilroy and Lesley Raffan, who each donated £100 to support the event. Any additional funds will be donated to St. Michael’s Hospice, where Fiona received compassionate care in her final days.
Friends and family have shared their heartfelt condolences on Facebook, with Georgina’s post prompting an outpouring of support. Georgina’s message was met with numerous responses, including comments from Samantha Lawal, who said, "I’m so sorry for your loss," and Elliott Brown, who added, "She was an incredible woman." Other comments echoed these sentiments, with Richard Newman stating, "My heart goes out to all of you," and Mark O’Donovan calling Fiona "an amazing woman."
The family continues to plan the celebration of Fiona’s life, ensuring that her legacy as a beloved mother and friend is honored in a way that reflects her joyful and resilient spirit.
