Former WWE World Champion Sidney Eudy Dies at 63 After Battling Cancer

Sidney Eudy, widely recognized in the wrestling world under the names Sycho Sid, Sid Vicious, and Sid Justice, has passed away at the age of 63. The former WWE and WCW champion succumbed to cancer after a long battle, as confirmed by his son, Gunnar Eudy, in a heartfelt Facebook post.

Sidney Eudy was a towering figure in professional wrestling, standing at 6 feet 9 inches and weighing 317 pounds during his prime. He made a significant impact on both WWE and WCW, securing two WWE Championship titles and two WCW Championship titles throughout his illustrious career. Eudy first rose to prominence in the late 1980s as part of the WCW tag team, The Skyscrapers, and quickly became known for his imposing presence and powerful in-ring performances.

Eudy’s career was marked by high-profile matches, including main events at WrestleMania 8 and WrestleMania 13. In these matches, he faced off against some of the biggest names in wrestling history, including Hulk Hogan and The Undertaker. Despite his success, a serious leg injury in 2001 ended his wrestling career prematurely, though he made a final appearance in an exhibition match in 2017.

Throughout his career, Eudy was notably absent from the WWE Hall of Fame, which he attributed to personal differences with former WWE CEO Vince McMahon. However, Eudy expressed hope that with McMahon’s departure, there might be an opportunity for posthumous recognition.

Following the news of his death, fans and fellow wrestlers took to social media to express their condolences. Trevor Mumby commented, "Roids get you young," while Angie St Lawrence simply remarked, "Wow." Russ Rankmore added, "R. I. P. Champ," and Mark Mendel shared, "I wish Sid had still been in WWF for the Attitude Era."

Barry R. Collins also shared a personal memory, stating, "Yea I stood next to him when I worked with WCW many times in Florida. Rest in peace, Sid Vicious!"

Sidney Eudy’s passing marks the end of an era for wrestling fans who remember his larger-than-life persona and contributions to the sport. His legacy as a formidable competitor will be remembered by fans and colleagues alike.
