Fresno Community Urged to Help Locate Family of Ivon Rocher Garces After Tragic Dog Attack

Fresno, California – The Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office is appealing to the public for assistance in locating the family of Ivon Rocher Garces, a 49-year-old man who tragically died following a dog attack in early July. Despite extensive efforts, the Coroner’s Office has been unable to find any relatives of Garces, who was homeless at the time of his death.

The incident occurred on July 4th at approximately 5:00 AM, when a passerby reported hearing screams coming from an orchard near the intersection of North Drive and Peach Avenue in Fresno. Responding deputies discovered Garces, who had been severely injured after being attacked by a dog described as a Husky. Despite being rushed to a hospital by emergency medical services, Garces succumbed to his injuries due to significant blood loss.

The Coroner’s Office has combed through various personal records in an attempt to locate Garces’ family, but their search has yielded no results. As a result, they are now turning to the public for help in identifying any relatives who can claim Garces’ body and ensure he receives a proper burial.

On social media, many have expressed their condolences for Garces. Isela Reyes wrote, “RIP,” while Linda Dixon added, “Rest in Peace Ivon.” Another user, Cee Annie, reflected on the tragedy, saying, “That is so sad and horrible. It could happen to someone else as well, like a child or elder. May God bless his soul.”

Others, like Jose Gera Estrada, shared their concerns about the dangers posed by loose dogs. “I seen those dogs on my way to work. I was riding my e-bike. They chased me for a short distance but I got away. I don’t wish wrong to anyone but those dog owners should be held accountable.”

As the investigation into the dog attack continues, the Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office remains committed to providing any necessary assistance to uncover the full details surrounding the incident. They stress the importance of public cooperation in this matter and urge anyone with information about Ivon Rocher Garces or his family to contact the Coroner’s Unit at (559) 600-3400 or via email at coroner@fresnosheriff.org.

This tragic event has highlighted the vulnerabilities faced by the homeless population and the urgent need for community support and accountability in preventing such incidents. The Fresno community is now called upon to help ensure that Garces’ final wishes are honored and that his family is given the chance to say their goodbyes.
