Haddon Township and Staten Island Mourn the Loss of Beloved Resident Jude Cappelli

Haddon Township, New Jersey, and Staten Island, New York – The community is deeply saddened by the passing of Jude Cappelli, a cherished resident who passed away at the age of 57 on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Richmond University Hospital. Born on February 22, 1966, in Manhattan at the former St. Vincent’s Hospital, Jude’s life was a testament to kindness, warmth, and a strong sense of community.

Jude grew up in the West New Brighton neighborhood of Staten Island, where he spent his formative years near Silver Lake Park. Ten years ago, he relocated to Port Richmond, where he quickly became a beloved member of the local community. His education included attending Our Lady of Good Counsel Grammar School and Curtis High School, both of which shaped his values and character.

Throughout his career, Jude worked for the New York City Parks Department and City Sanitation, where he gained expertise in landscaping and handyman work. He was well-known for his friendly demeanor and always greeted others with a smile and a kind word. His positive spirit and approachable nature endeared him to friends and neighbors alike.

Jude had a passion for traveling, dancing, spending time at the beach, and cheering for his favorite sports teams, the New York Giants and the Yankees. He leaves behind a legacy of joy and community spirit that will be remembered by all who knew him.

Jude is survived by his brothers, Allen Cappelli (Marina), David Cappelli (Virginia), and Mark Cappelli (Hua Sun). He also leaves behind his nieces, Toni Ann Owens, Leah Caruso, Laura Cappelli, and Marissa Cappelli, and his nephews, David Cappelli, Evan Cappelli, Dylan Cappelli, and Ian Cappelli.

A memorial service and visitation will be held in Jude’s honor on Saturday, September 30, 2023, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at Matthew Funeral Home, Staten Island. Additional visitation will occur on Monday, October 2, 2023, followed by burial at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Staten Island.

Jude Cappelli will be deeply missed, but his legacy of kindness and community spirit will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
