Harvard, IL—The community of Harvard is reeling after the tragic death of 40-year-old Rigoberto Reynozo, who was identified as the victim in a fatal rollover accident near Harvard on Tuesday morning. Reynozo, who was known to many as Rigoberto Reynozo-Herrera, lost his life in a single-vehicle crash on Lawrence Road.
The accident occurred around 9:40 a.m. when Reynozo’s 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee suddenly veered off the road, rolling multiple times before coming to a stop in a nearby cornfield. Authorities reported that Reynozo was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Despite the quick response of emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy later confirmed that his death was due to blunt force trauma.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the cause of the accident, with factors such as speed and road conditions still under review. As they piece together what led to this tragic event, the Harvard community is left grieving the loss of a man remembered as hardworking and dedicated.
In the aftermath of the accident, many took to social media to express their sorrow and disbelief. Sarah Jiworsky commented, “Northwest Herald – Shaw Local, shame on you all for bringing something up from his past in the same sentence as his tragic death caused by an accident. He left behind 2 children, how about that being the topic.” Another local, Pam Tison, suggested, “Maybe Northwest Herald – Shaw Local should host a fundraiser for his children who are now orphans since their mother passed away last year…why not report that.”
Reynozo’s death has not only left his friends and family in mourning but has also sparked a broader conversation about road safety. Authorities are urging drivers to always wear seatbelts and be cautious, especially in rural areas where accidents can happen unexpectedly.
As the investigation continues, the family of Rigoberto Reynozo has requested privacy during this difficult time, and plans for a memorial service are underway to honor his memory.
