Houston Music Community Mourns the Loss of Legendary Guitarist and Vocalist Mark May

Houston, Texas – The vibrant music scene in Houston is in mourning after the passing of one of its most beloved figures, Mark May. Port Smokehouse, a venue where Mark had played for the last 25 years, expressed their grief in a heartfelt Facebook post: "We’re at a loss for words. Our dear friend, Mark May, has passed away. He was not only one of the nicest people, he was also one of the best rockin’ blues guitar players around. It was an honor to have him doing gigs at the Port Smokehouse for the last 25 years and hosting our Open Jam for several years. You will be missed. RIP Mark."

John Wooten, a fellow musician who played with Mark in the 1970s, also shared his sorrow: "Very much missed… Rip brother. Very humble and excellent player. Played together in the 70’s. Lots of water under our bridges for sure."
