Howell County Authorities Issue Endangered Person Advisory for Missing 17-Year-Old Abigail Katherine Lawless, Community Offers Prayers for Her Safe Return

Howell County, Missouri – The Howell County Sheriff’s Office has issued an endangered person advisory for 17-year-old Abigail Katherine Lawless, who went missing early Saturday morning in West Plains. Abigail left a note indicating she felt she was better off living on her own, prompting concerns from her family and local authorities.

Authorities believe Abigail may be heading to Kansas City with an unknown individual she met online. She is described as a white female, standing 5’09" tall, weighing 162 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. No clothing description was provided. The sheriff’s office urges anyone with information on her whereabouts to contact law enforcement immediately by dialing 911 or calling the Howell County Sheriff’s Department at (417) 256-2544.

The community has responded with an outpouring of concern on social media. Facebook posts show numerous individuals offering prayers for her safe return. Alice Carlton posted, "Praying she is found safe and has not been harmed," while Vicki Roland shared, "Prayers she is found safe." Similar sentiments were echoed by Jenny Davis Leonard and Jennifer Ashley, who both expressed their hopes for Abigail’s safe recovery.

The situation has raised questions among community members, with Christina Gayer asking on social media, "Why isn’t this an Amber Alert?"
