New York – James Dennis "Jim" Ferreira, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on August 13, 2024, at the age of 61 due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Jim’s sudden passing has left a significant void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
Born to James and Theresa Ferreira, who preceded him in death, Jim grew up in New York and graduated from Somers High School in 1981. His professional life was marked by a successful 16-year career as a CNC programmer at Aerogear Aerospace, where he was known for his dedication and skill. Outside of work, Jim was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying activities such as hiking, mountain biking, and visiting local breweries.
Jim’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his children and grandson, Olliver. He was a devoted father who cherished every moment with his loved ones. Known for his sharp sense of humor and infectious wit, Jim brought laughter and happiness to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He is survived by his sisters, Theresa Pilch of Greenville, North Carolina, Peggy Jaronko of Southington, and Cathy Gotta of Somers. His children, Sarah N. Bennett of Beverly, MA, Dylan James Ferreira and his wife Enya of Granby, and Joshua William Ferreira of Granby, along with his cherished grandson, Oliver Ferreira, also survive him.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home on Friday, August 16, 2024, from 4 PM to 7 PM. A celebration of Jim’s life will take place on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Carmon’s, starting at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jim’s name can be made to McLean’s Game Refuge in Granby, Connecticut.
