Jessie Uppal, Esteemed USW Staff Representative, Passes Away Peacefully at Her Vancouver Home

Vancouver, British Columbia – The labor community is mourning the loss of Jessie Uppal, a highly respected United Steelworkers (USW) staff representative from District 3, who passed away peacefully at her home in Vancouver. Jessie’s dedication and contributions to the labor movement spanned over a decade with USW, leaving a significant impact on all who had the privilege of working alongside her.

Jessie Uppal was not only a committed advocate for workers but also a beloved colleague and friend. Her career included significant work with the British Columbia Federation of Labour before joining USW, where her tireless efforts to improve workers’ rights were widely recognized. Jessie’s lifelong commitment to New Democratic values was further exemplified by her service with the British Columbia New Democratic Party government in the 1990s.

The news of Jessie’s passing has elicited an outpouring of grief and fond memories from her colleagues and friends. Scott Lunny, Director of USW District 3, expressed his deep sadness, emphasizing that Jessie will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
