John Bingham of Austin, TX, Passes Away – Family Faces Financial Struggles Due to Funeral Scam

Austin, TX – John Bingham, a cherished member of the Austin community, passed away on August 24, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. His death has left his family not only grieving but also facing an unexpected financial burden due to a fraudulent scheme.

Before his passing, Mr. Bingham had assured his daughter, Brooke, that his funeral expenses were fully paid for. However, when Brooke visited the funeral home to finalize the arrangements, she was informed by the director that a scam perpetrated by the former owner had left Mr. Bingham among many unsuspecting victims. This revelation has placed a significant strain on the family, who are now struggling to cover the costs of the funeral.

In response to this unforeseen situation, a GoFundMe campaign has been organized by Richie Deegan, a family friend, at Brooke’s request. The fundraiser, titled "Support John Bingham’s Memorial Service," aims to raise $11,000 to help the family pay for the funeral expenses. As of today, the campaign is ongoing, and donations of any amount are being gratefully accepted.

On Facebook, many who knew John Bingham have shared their memories and condolences. Juli Graves wrote, "Mr. Bingham was the best dad to my good friend Brad Bingham. He was also my dear friend throughout the years, especially the last 20 years, and I’ve loved him like my own dad. He was everyone’s dad."

Others, like Alicia Pasz, shared similar sentiments, "I worked with your dad in 2018. I loved him. I’m so sorry for your loss." Cindy Van Kirk Serna added, "Awwww John. He was such a sweet man. He will be missed."

Vickie Griffith Iselt also remembered him fondly, saying, "I worked with your dad for a few years. He was a very sweet man and had such a good sense of humor. I’ve thought of him often. I’m so sorry for your loss. Prayers for you and your family."

The outpouring of love and support for John Bingham’s family during this difficult time is evident, but the financial challenges remain. The family is deeply grateful for any assistance as they work to honor John’s memory and give him the farewell he deserves.
