Joliet Community Mourns the Unexpected Loss of Zachary "Roo" Lofdahl, Aged 33

Joliet, Illinois – The Joliet community is mourning the sudden and unexpected passing of Zachary James Lofdahl, affectionately known as "Roo," who passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the age of 33. Zachary was born in Joliet on August 26, 1990, to his loving parents, James and Debra Lofdahl (nee Fairbairn).

Zachary was a skilled professional in Mechanical Maintenance, working in the Joliet area. He had a deep passion for motorcycles, classic cars, and car shows, and he took great pride in his 1954 Chevy Sedan. His love for the 1950s was evident in all aspects of his life, from his music choices to his fashion and even the transformation of his basement into a 1950s-themed diner, a dream he had cherished since childhood.

Known for his infectious smile and his role as the family jokester, Zachary was an old soul who found joy in simple pleasures such as fishing, boating, throwing darts, and shooting pool. His warmth, humor, and love for spending time with his Papa made him a beloved figure among his family and friends.

Zachary is survived by his devoted mother, Debbie Lofdahl, her partner Steven White, his sisters Kelsie Gould (Nick) and Taylor Bibian (Lino), his nephew Lino James, and his soon-to-be-born niece, Rosalie Rae. He also leaves behind the love of his life, Kate Stanker, his grandparents Frank and Mary Lou Lofdahl, and Ronnie and DoRae Fairbairn, along with numerous other family members, friends, and his beloved cat, Bella.

In addition to his family, many in the community have expressed their condolences on social media. Carol’s Beauty and Beyond shared on Facebook, “Good morning friends, Sorry I’ve been out of the loop the past few days. My nephew has passed away unexpectedly. Please keep my family in your thoughts and prayers. We’re honestly all just devastated!” Other Facebook users also shared their sympathies. Jacqueline Bembenek wrote, "I love you," while Debbie M Krone added, "May the Lord hold this family tightly in His hands. Sending love and prayers."

Zachary’s life will be celebrated at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home in Joliet. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, August 16, 2024, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m., with funeral services to follow on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Elmhurst Cemetery.

Zachary "Roo" Lofdahl’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, his love for the past, and the joy he brought into the lives of those around him.
