Jorge Zavala, 35, Found Dead in Visalia Roadway – Two Suspects Arrested for Homicide

Visalia, California – The Visalia community is reeling after the tragic discovery of Jorge Zavala, 35, found dead on the 1100 block of West Walnut Avenue on the morning of Thursday, August 15, 2024. Zavala was discovered lying in the roadway, having sustained fatal stab wounds. The incident has shaken the community and prompted a swift investigation by the Visalia Police Department.

Detectives specializing in violent crimes quickly took charge of the case and identified two suspects. On Friday, August 16, 2024, Ricardo Perez, 36, was arrested by the Visalia Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit, assisted by the HOPE Unit, in the area of Houston Avenue and Giddings Street. Following this, 27-year-old Angel Gomez was apprehended at a residence on North Quince Street in Exeter. Both suspects have been charged with homicide and are currently in custody.

The community has expressed mixed reactions on social media, with many praising the efforts of the Visalia Police Department. "Good job VPD," wrote Sandra Costa, while Kellie C Nuttall, who lives near the crime scene, shared her shock: "On my way to work I drove by the deceased… I wasn’t sure I saw what I saw… I had to flip around even if that meant I would be late to work." Others, like Rosie Tadeo Rodriguez, voiced concerns about the legal outcomes, fearing that the charges might be reduced.

As the investigation continues, the local community remains on edge, hoping for justice for Jorge Zavala and his family.
