Julie Jammot Dies in Tragic Nevada Burning Man Shooting – Investigation Underway

Black Rock Desert, Nevada – Authorities are investigating the tragic death of Julie Jammot, who was found unresponsive during the opening weekend of the 2024 Burning Man festival in the Nevada desert. The incident occurred on Sunday, August 25, at approximately 11:29 a.m., when festival emergency personnel discovered Jammot. Despite immediate efforts to revive her, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Burning Man Project has acknowledged the incident, extending their condolences to Jammot’s family and friends. The Pershing County Sheriff’s Office was notified shortly after, with Sheriff Jerry Allen confirming that deputies were informed of the death at 11:37 a.m. An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause and manner of her death, pending the results of an autopsy.

This marks the first reported fatality at the 2024 Burning Man festival, an event that draws tens of thousands of participants to the remote Black Rock Desert in northern Nevada. The festival, known for its elaborate art installations and community-driven spirit, has seen at least seven previous deaths, including a fatality in 2023 due to severe weather conditions.

The sheriff’s office has expressed their sympathy to Jammot’s grieving family and has stated that no further details will be released at this time to respect their privacy. The festival is set to continue until September 2, with an expected attendance of around 70,000 people.
