Kimberly, Idaho Community in Distress as Search for Missing Elderly Man Miguel Aguayo-Riva Continues

Miguel Aguayo-Riva, Kimberly, Idaho – The community is anxiously searching for Miguel Aguayo-Riva, a 66-year-old man who went missing on the evening of August 17, 2024. Miguel, who suffers from severe dementia, poor eyesight, and diabetes, walked away from his care facility at 1201 Buttercup Lane around 8:30 pm, sparking widespread concern.

Miguel is described as a Hispanic male, standing 6’2" tall and weighing 163 pounds, with short black and gray hair and a bald spot on top. He was last seen wearing a black Yankees ball cap, an olive green jacket, a black t-shirt, blue jeans, and black tennis shoes. Though he remembers his name, Miguel is disoriented and does not know the date.

The Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office has issued an endangered missing person alert and is urging anyone with information to contact SIRCOMM at (208) 735-1911 ext. 0 or to dial 911.

Community members have taken to social media to express their concern and offer support. Sylvia Rivas shared on Facebook, "Sad poor guy must be scared." Jennifer Murphy asked, "Has he been found?" while Deb Hurlburt advised, "If you ever experience a walk away again, there are scent discrimination trailing dogs who can assist if called early enough."

As the search continues, the Kimberly community remains hopeful for Miguel’s safe return, with local authorities and residents rallying together to bring him home.
