Janesville, Wisconsin – In the early hours of Saturday, August 18, 2024, Koty M. Diaz, 32, was involved in a tragic accident at the intersection of East Delavan Drive and Beloit Avenue in Janesville. Diaz is accused of running a red light, resulting in a collision with another vehicle that claimed the lives of two passengers.
According to the Janesville police, emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 2:15 a.m. The Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that the two victims, who were in the vehicle traveling north on Beloit Avenue, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Sergeant SD Welte of the Janesville Police Department reported that Diaz showed signs of intoxication and failed multiple field sobriety tests. A blood test was ordered, with results pending. Diaz was subsequently arrested on preliminary charges, including two counts of homicide by drunk driving and operating a vehicle after revocation with intent to kill.
