China Grove, Texas – Authorities have identified the motorcyclist who tragically lost his life in a fiery crash on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, as 40-year-old Larry Nees. The accident occurred during a police pursuit after Nees attempted to evade China Grove Police officers.
The collision happened around 5:00 p.m. at the intersection of 1604 and Graytown. Nees was trying to escape police when he attempted to navigate around traffic and run a red light, leading to the fatal crash. The other vehicle involved was driven by 44-year-old Michael Husky, who also died as a result of the collision.
The pursuit began when police attempted to stop a group of three bikers as part of an investigation into a stolen vehicle. The motorcycle Nees was riding had been reported stolen earlier this year in San Antonio, though it was registered in Laredo. Police discovered two firearms, drugs, and drug paraphernalia at the scene.
