Leobardo Tapia Sosa and Hector Miguel Gutierrez Tapia Lose Their Lives in Tragic Shasta County Accident Near Redding

Shasta County, California – In the early hours of Thursday, Leobardo Tapia Sosa, 30, and Hector Miguel Gutierrez Tapia, 25, both residents of McArthur, tragically lost their lives in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 299, east of Redding.

The incident occurred around 2:15 a.m. near Indian Oaks Drive in Bella Vista. The 2012 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck they were in veered off the road for reasons still unknown. The vehicle struck a guardrail, flipped over, and came to rest on its roof in Salt Creek on the south side of the highway.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find the truck overturned in the creek. The exact speed of the vehicle at the time of the crash has not yet been determined.

This accident was one of two fatal collisions in Shasta County on the same day. Later that evening, a separate crash claimed the life of a 33-year-old man from Anderson after his Cadillac sedan lost control on West Anderson Drive, hit a barbed-wire fence, and overturned. His identity has not yet been released.

The tragic loss of Leobardo Tapia Sosa and Hector Miguel Gutierrez Tapia has left the McArthur community in mourning as investigations into the causes of both accidents continue.
