Long Beach, CA – The music world is in mourning following the death of Bert Susanka, the beloved frontman of The Ziggens, who passed away on August 17, 2024, after a courageous battle with ALS. Bert’s passing marks the end of an era for the Southern California music scene, where his unique blend of cowpunk, surf, rockabilly, and ska left an indelible mark.

Bert Susanka was more than just a musician; he was a beacon of positivity and kindness. The Ziggens, formed in the late 1980s while Bert worked at a sunglass shop in the Westminster Mall, quickly became a staple in the Southern California music scene.
