Los Angeles Community Mourns the Loss of Beloved Teacher Mr. Miguel, Fundraiser Launched to Support His Family

Los Angeles, CA – The community at Roybal Learning Center is in mourning following the sudden passing of Mr. Miguel, a beloved Algebra I and Geometry teacher who made a profound impact on students and colleagues alike. Mr. Miguel, who tragically passed away due to an unexpected medical complication during his third year of teaching, was known for his kindness, compassion, and unwavering dedication to his students.

Mr. Miguel’s journey to becoming a teacher was marked by resilience and determination. After immigrating to the United States as an adult, he worked various jobs, including bussing tables and washing dishes, while pursuing higher education. His hard work paid off when he earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. However, driven by a deep desire to give back to his community, Mr. Miguel chose to become a math teacher.

His passion for teaching and his ability to connect with students quickly earned him respect and admiration at Roybal Learning Center, an inner-city school in Los Angeles. Over the course of two years, he touched the lives of many students, offering not just lessons in mathematics, but also life lessons in perseverance and kindness.

In honor of Mr. Miguel’s legacy, the Math Department at Roybal Learning Center has organized a fundraiser to support his family during this difficult time. The fundraiser, titled "Honor Mr. Miguel’s Legacy: Support His Family," aims to raise $10,000, with $100 already donated by Sonny Nguyen, an early supporter.

The Math Department encourages the community to contribute to the fundraiser and help ease the financial burden on Mr. Miguel’s family as they navigate this tragic loss. Every donation, no matter the amount, is deeply appreciated and will go a long way in supporting the family he leaves behind.

Mr. Miguel’s passing is a significant loss for the Roybal Learning Center community, but his legacy will continue to inspire students and teachers for years to come.
