San Bernardino, California – Luis Baca, affectionately known as "Louie the King," passed away on Saturday, August 24th, 2024, at 6:25 p.m. after a prolonged battle with liver and kidney failure. He was surrounded by his loved ones during his final moments at home, following his wishes to spend his last days in peace.
Luis Baca had been diagnosed with liver failure on May 7th, with doctors initially hopeful about his prognosis. They believed he could manage his condition for years with the proper treatment and lifestyle changes. However, despite efforts to stabilize his health, Baca’s condition deteriorated, leading to end-stage renal failure. The possibility of a simultaneous liver and kidney transplant was ruled out as the necessary treatments began to severely impact his heart.
On June 18th, Luis experienced a severe health crisis, requiring emergency intervention after he became unresponsive and stopped breathing. Although he survived this episode, his health continued to decline, prompting the difficult decision to bring him home on hospice care on August 19th. He spent his final days surrounded by his family, who remained by his side until he passed away.
Luis Baca was known for his infectious sense of humor, which he retained even during his extended hospital stays. He also had a deep passion for music, a love he shared with his family, who are now creating a playlist in his memory.
Luis will be cremated according to his wishes. His family is organizing a celebration of his life and is seeking support through a GoFundMe campaign to cover the costs of his cremation and memorial service. The fundraiser, organized by his daughter Jessica Baca, has raised $470 out of a $3,500 goal as of today.
On Facebook, several individuals expressed their condolences and shared their memories of Luis Baca. Sandra Cristina posted, "Dear family and friends, if you have a moment of your day to donate towards my boyfriend’s dad services, RIP MR BACA."
Luis Baca’s family extends their heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported them during this challenging time and invites those who knew him to contribute to the fundraiser or share a special song in his honor.
