Marcia Jean Hadley Passes Away at Age 69, German Shepherd Community Mourns

Cedar Hill, MO – Marcia Jean Hadley, a well-known figure in the German Shepherd community, passed away suddenly at her home on August 26, 2024, at the age of 69. Her passing has left a deep void among her friends, family, and the many people she inspired through her passion for dogs and her artistic talents.

Marcia Hadley was a dedicated member of the St. Louis German Shepherd Dog Club, where she was admired for her kindness, intelligence, and leadership. Despite battling rheumatoid arthritis, she remained active in the club as long as her health allowed. Her love for German Shepherds was well known, and she often shared her knowledge and experience with others who shared her passion.

Tom Langlitz, a close friend, shared his heartfelt condolences on Facebook, saying, “Marcia was a true friend to us, and to many others. Peg and I are heartbroken by her passing.” He also highlighted Marcia’s generosity and mentorship within the German Shepherd community, adding, “She was kind, intelligent, a mentor to others, and an active leader in the St. Louis German Shepherd Dog Club.”

Others in the community echoed similar sentiments. Christine Salamone commented, “Marcia’s passing is a HUGE LOSS to so many!!!! She loved seeing puppies and their movement. R.i.p our dear friend! We love you and will miss you!” Tammy Boxx and Betty J. Johnson also remembered Marcia fondly, praising her kindness and noting the significant loss to the German Shepherd world.

In addition to her love for dogs, Marcia was a talented artist. She enjoyed creating pencil sketches, paintings, and handcrafted jewelry and dog collars. Her family and friends remember her as a resilient woman who brought light to everyone around her, even during tough times.

To help with Marcia’s cremation, memorial services, and a celebration of her life, her granddaughter, Angela Charboneau, has organized a GoFundMe campaign. Angela described Marcia as “the sweetest, kindest person you could ever meet,” and mentioned her deep love for her family, pets, music, art, and movies. The fundraiser, titled "Help Honor Marcia Jean Hadley’s Legacy," aims to raise $10,000, with $575 raised so far through seven donations.

The community’s outpouring of support and love for Marcia Jean Hadley reflects the significant impact she had on those around her. She will be dearly missed, but her legacy will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
