Deming, Washington – The community of Ferndale and Deming is mourning the loss of Mark Cooper, a beloved member of the Nooksack Indian Tribe and an alumnus of Mt. Baker High School. Mark passed away recently, leaving a deep void in the hearts of those who knew him.
Mark Cooper was a figure of warmth, generosity, and unwavering support within his community. His contributions to the local area, especially through his active involvement with the Nooksack Indian Tribe, made him a cherished individual whose absence will be keenly felt.
The Nooksack Indian Tribe Communications Page shared the heartbreaking news, stating, "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mark Cooper. The Cooper family will be meeting tonight at the Rutsatz Community Building in Deming at 6 p.m. Please have a prayer for the family at this time."
The outpouring of love and support for Mark’s family has been immense. Friends and community members have taken to social media to express their grief and share memories of Mark. Joanne M. Williams wrote, "So very sad to hear this! He sang a wonderful prayer song for my honey when he passed. Touched my heart the way he sang it. He will truly be missed."
Ellyn Erickson, reflecting on her memories, posted, "My heart is aching. I first met Mark in my 5th Grade Class at Acme Elementary. His beautiful smile, twinkling eyes, and engaging energy were a gift to me every day. Peace to all his family and friends."
