Marlene Renee Mallet, Beloved Lake Charles Resident, Dies at Age 64

Lake Charles, Louisiana – Marlene Renee Mallet, a cherished resident of Lake Charles, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the age of 64. Born on November 12, 1959, Marlene was a beacon of kindness, strength, and love in her community.

Marlene was the beloved daughter of the late Curtis and Sylvia Anding Mallet. She was a twin to her sister Darlene Mallet and shared close relationships with her siblings, nieces, and nephews. Her life was rooted in family, community, and a deep sense of compassion for others.

Marlene’s career was marked by dedication and service. She spent many years working alongside her mother at Friendly Home Center, which later became Stine Lumber Company, before transitioning to a 27-year career at Lowe’s, where she excelled in management and sales until her retirement in 2019.

Beyond her professional life, Marlene was known for her volunteer work, particularly with Relay for Life, drawing on her experience as a 15-year cancer survivor to support others battling the disease. Her love for animals led her to establish "Who’s a Good Dog Doggy Daycare," where she provided care for countless pets, further showcasing her nurturing spirit.

Marlene was also an avid supporter of the New Orleans Saints and LSU, often sharing her enthusiasm for her favorite teams with those around her. Her generous and caring nature left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.

In response to her passing, many took to Facebook to express their condolences and share memories. Bernice Conner Zaunbrecher wrote, "She will be missed by so many RIP Marlene, you were truly one of a kind! May God wrap his arms around your family and give them peace and comfort in knowing you are where you belong, in his arms!"
