Mary Louise Swigart Found Safe After Missing for Several Hours in Canyon, Texas

Canyon, Texas – The Canyon community breathed a sigh of relief as 49-year-old Mary Louise Swigart was located safely on Sunday evening, after being reported missing earlier in the day. Mary, a resident of Canyon, had last been in contact at around 7:00 a.m., and concern grew as the hours passed without any word from her.

The Canyon Police Department issued a public appeal for help in locating Mary, describing her as 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing approximately 120 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes. She was believed to be traveling in a white Toyota C-HR, with a possible partial Texas license plate of either 9955 or 5599. Authorities suggested that she might be in the Pampa or Mobeetie area.

The department’s update at 6:10 p.m. on Sunday confirmed that Mary had been found, prompting a flood of relief and gratitude from the community. Several people took to Facebook to express their feelings about the situation.

Misty Mumford Barnard, who knew Mary from school, shared, "I went to school with Mary Lou! I hope she is found safe." After hearing the good news, Kay Payne Paulk commented, "So glad she’s safe…such a sweetheart!" Others echoed these sentiments, with Diane Estes expressing, "So glad she has been found!!"
