Melbourne’s Copperfield College Lockdown Following Stabbing Incident Involving Teenagers Leaves Community in Shock

Fraser Rise, Australia – A violent altercation broke out on August 23, 2024, involving several armed teenagers, leaving a 16-year-old boy stabbed and in critical condition. The incident occurred around 3 p.m. on Church Street in Melbourne’s southeast, sparking a swift lockdown at Copperfield College and widespread fear among students and parents.

Witnesses described the scene as chaotic and alarming, with one bystander, Shahriza Nazari, recounting the terrifying moment when the violence erupted. “They were hitting each other with machetes,” Nazari told 9News Melbourne, expressing shock at the level of brutality. “This is not something you would expect to happen in such a neighborhood.”

The confrontation reportedly involved multiple teenagers, and in the fracas, a child was seen throwing a store sign, which struck a parked car, narrowly missing another individual. The violence near Middle Brighton Railway Station has left the local community rattled, with neighboring schools issuing warnings for families to stay away from the area.

By the time police arrived on the scene, the groups involved had dispersed, leaving authorities to piece together the events and launch a search for those responsible. The incident has raised significant concerns about youth violence in the area, prompting increased police patrols and calls for community action to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

As investigations continue, the community remains on high alert, seeking reassurance that measures will be taken to protect their children and restore peace to their neighborhood.
