Portland, Oregon – The Portland Police Bureau has identified the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning as 33-year-old Melody A. Rooks. The tragic incident took place at approximately 2:42 a.m. on August 18, 2024, at the intersection of Northeast 104th Avenue and Northeast Wasco Street.

Responding to reports of gunfire, officers discovered Rooks unresponsive at the scene. Despite immediate efforts, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
