Plainville, Massachusetts – A tragic accident on Saturday night has left the Plainville community in mourning after a 10-year-old boy was killed and five other family members were injured. The devastating crash occurred on Route 1 near the intersection of Interstate 495.
The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Michael Escolas of Oxford, MA, was allegedly driving under the influence when he crashed a stolen SUV into a family’s car. The Jeep Grand Cherokee, stolen from the parking lot at Gillette Stadium during a Kenny Chesney concert, collided at high speed with a Nissan Altima that was stopped at a traffic light.
The impact of the crash was severe, leading to the death of the young boy. The boy’s parents and three siblings were also injured and taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Michael Escolas has been arrested and charged with motor vehicle manslaughter and operating under the influence (OUI). He is currently being held on $25,000 cash bail and is set to appear in Wrentham District Court on Monday.
