Missing 88-Year-Old Priest, Anthony Palos, Safely Located in Coachella After Disappearance from Santa Ana

Santa Ana, California – The Santa Ana community can breathe a sigh of relief as 88-year-old Anthony Palos, who was reported missing on Monday, August 12th, has been safely found in the City of Coachella. The Santa Ana Police Department confirmed his safe recovery this afternoon, much to the relief of his congregation and loved ones.

Anthony Palos, a beloved priest residing at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Santa Ana, was last seen around 4:15 PM on Monday, leaving the church in a white 2016 Toyota Camry. Palos, who suffers from dementia, had been wearing his black priest garment and eyeglasses at the time of his disappearance.

The news of his safe return has sparked an outpouring of relief and gratitude across social media, with many community members expressing their joy. Michelle Manzo posted, “Amen! I’m so glad. I hope he is in good health & good spirits,” reflecting the sentiments of many others.

Anguiano Lourdes echoed these feelings by stating, "Dementia. Should not have access to a vehicle or license anymore! Glad he was found safe." The concern for his health and well-being was evident in many of the posts, with others like Vickie Sheppard simply expressing, “Thankful he was found.”

The Santa Ana Police Department had issued a critical missing person alert, urging anyone with information to come forward. His disappearance had deeply concerned the community, given his advanced age and medical condition. Thankfully, prayers and efforts to locate him were answered, as noted by Gregg Pastore, who commented, “Guess those prayers to St. Anthony worked.”

Palos will soon be reunited with his congregation, who have been anxiously awaiting his return. His safe recovery is a testament to the power of community vigilance and the swift action of the Santa Ana Police Department.
