Morristown Mourns the Loss of Retired Police Officer Carl Cousin, Beloved for His Dedication and Service

Morristown, New Jersey – The community of Morristown is grieving the loss of Retired Police Officer Carl Cousin, who passed away recently after a long and distinguished career serving the town. Officer Cousin, affectionately known as "Pee Wee," began his service with the Bureau of Police in 1980 and served for 27 years with an unwavering commitment to the citizens of Morristown. Even after his initial retirement, his dedication to public safety led him back to serve as a Class II Special Police Officer, a role he held until his final retirement in 2022.

Officer Cousin’s legacy is one of integrity, commitment, and compassion. He was more than just an officer; he was a mentor, a pillar of strength in the community, and a man who truly cared about the people he served. His loss is deeply felt by his family, friends, and the many colleagues who had the privilege of working alongside him.

The Morristown PBA Local 43 shared their condolences, stating, "Officer Cousin’s commitment to the citizens of Morristown was exemplary, and his service will be remembered with deep respect and gratitude. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who had the honor of working alongside him."

Community members have also expressed their sorrow and respect for Officer Cousin on social media. Kristi Dimogerodakis wrote, "PeeWee touched a lot of lives in his 40+ years serving our community… He was one of the good guys to put on the uniform, always kind… willing to help and truly cared about the people of Morristown."

Mike Kennedy simply said, "Rest in Peace!" while Rick Riley added, "Rest easy, brother. Condolences to family and friends. Carl ‘Pee Wee’ was one of the good guys. You’ll be missed."

A wake service in honor of Officer Cousin will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church on Martin Luther King Avenue, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. He will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery.

As the community mourns the loss of this dedicated public servant, the impact of Officer Cousin’s life and service will continue to resonate, reminding all of the importance of commitment, integrity, and compassion in public service.
