N.J. Driver Timothy B. Willson Tragically Killed in Upstate New York Crash After Vehicle Was Rear-Ended on Interstate 81

Collingswood, Camden County – A tragic accident claimed the life of 71-year-old Timothy B. Willson from Collingswood, New Jersey, after his vehicle was rear-ended on Interstate 81 in upstate New York. The incident occurred on Thursday at approximately 1:10 p.m., according to the New York State Police.

The accident unfolded when an SUV swerved to avoid traffic stalled due to ongoing construction on the highway. In attempting to maneuver through the congestion, the SUV collided with the rear of Willson’s car, which was traveling in the left lane. The impact forced Willson’s vehicle off the road, causing it to flip onto its side.

Timothy B. Willson was pronounced dead from the injuries sustained in the crash. A 70-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the vehicle, also from New Jersey, was taken to the hospital. Fortunately, her injuries were reported to be non-life-threatening.

The tragic accident highlights the dangers of sudden traffic changes and the importance of maintaining caution on busy highways, especially in areas with ongoing construction. The investigation by the New York State Police is ongoing as the community of Collingswood mourns the loss of one of their own.
