Newark, New Jersey – The Newark community is rallying to support the search for 12-year-old Jolie Diaz, who was reported missing on August 6, 2024. Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé has issued a public plea for assistance in locating the young girl, who has been missing for several days.
Jolie Diaz, a Black female, stands 5 feet tall and weighs approximately 130 pounds. She has brown eyes, black hair, and a light complexion. She is known to frequent the 100 block of Parker Street, the basketball courts at Branch Brook Park, and Newark Penn Station.
Director Fragé has urged anyone with information regarding Jolie’s whereabouts to contact the Newark Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). The police have assured that all tips will be kept confidential, and there is a possibility of a reward for information leading to her safe return. Tips can also be submitted through the Police Division’s website.
Jolie’s disappearance has deeply affected her family, especially her grandmother, who has been actively seeking the community’s help. She shared her concern, saying, "My 12-year-old granddaughter Jolie Diaz is missing, she is often seen in the Vailsburg section of Newark around Alexander Street and West End. Please, if you know anything, reach out to the Newark police or myself."
The community has responded with an outpouring of prayers and support on social media. A’Dorian Murray-Thomas, a Newark Public Schools Board Member, expressed her concern on Facebook, writing, "Praying she gets home safely." Another supporter, Simone Mottley, added, "Praying she return home safe in Jesus Name."
