Nola Fujitani Disappearance Remains Unsolved After Over Three Decades in Honolulu, Hawaii

Honolulu, Hawaii – The mysterious disappearance of Nola Fujitani, a 38-year-old woman last seen in June 1992, continues to baffle authorities and the community, even as her case was officially closed in 1997. Nola was last seen on June 18, 1992, after dropping her son off at her parents’ residence on University Avenue in Honolulu. Her disappearance has left a lasting impact on her family and the local community.

Nola’s car, a 1988 Honda Prelude, was found the following day on June 19, 1992, unoccupied in the parking lot of the Halona Blow Hole, a well-known tourist spot in Honolulu. The discovery of her vehicle, coupled with a distressing suicide note received by her parents on the same day, suggested a tragic end.

Two days later, on June 21, 1992, Nola’s sandals were discovered in a cave near the Halona Blow Hole, prompting a thorough search of the area by the Honolulu Fire Department. Despite the extensive search efforts, Nola was never found, leading to her being declared deceased in June 1997, five years after she went missing.

Nola Fujitani’s case was officially entered into the NamUs database on August 15, 2024, in an effort to keep her memory alive and possibly uncover new leads. Although decades have passed, her family and community remain hopeful for closure.

The circumstances surrounding Nola’s disappearance continue to be a source of sadness and speculation. The details of her case, such as the location of her last known whereabouts and the subsequent discovery of her personal items, remain deeply etched in the minds of those who knew her.
