North Hollywood Hit-and-Run – Family of Leyda Medina Seeks Justice as Police Hunt for Driver

North Hollywood, California – The community is mourning the tragic death of Leyda Medina, who was struck and killed in a hit-and-run incident on Friday evening at the intersection of Victory Boulevard and Beck Avenue. Medina, a beloved member of the community, was crossing the street within a marked crosswalk when a Toyota Corolla, traveling westbound, hit her. Despite prompt medical attention, she succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital.

The vehicle involved in the collision was found abandoned on Victory Boulevard, east of Troost Avenue, shortly after the incident. The driver, described as a man in his 50s, fled the scene on foot and remains at large. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is leading the investigation and is appealing to the public for any information that could help identify and locate the suspect.

Medina’s family is devastated by her untimely death and is calling for justice. In a heartfelt statement, they remembered Leyda as a cherished wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, who was known for her vibrant personality, love of Halloween, and passion for hair and makeup. The loss has left a significant void in the lives of those who knew and loved her.

On social media, friends and community members expressed their sorrow and outrage over the incident. Hilario Wilson commented, "This has become a daily thing. When caught, the culprit will turn out to have various infractions… It has to stop." Another user, Gina Acuña, shared, "This is so tragic… My heart goes out to her family."

As the investigation continues, Medina’s family is also grappling with the financial burden of medical and funeral expenses. A GoFundMe page has been established to assist with these costs, and the community has begun to rally in support, showcasing their solidarity during this difficult time.
