Coalinga, California – The community is mourning the loss of one-year-old Amante Williams, who tragically died in a car accident near Coalinga on Thursday morning. The incident, which occurred at around 5:14 a.m., took place on an off-ramp near the Coalinga Avenal Rest Area.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident happened when the driver of a 2022 Kia Forte, a 28-year-old from Sacramento, lost control while navigating a curve on the off-ramp. The car, carrying Amante Williams and another young child, veered off the road and onto the dirt shoulder, leading to the fatal crash.
A witness at the scene quickly stopped to help, performing CPR on Amante Williams. Despite these efforts and the rapid response from emergency medical personnel, the young boy succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital. The driver and a three-year-old boy, also in the vehicle, were taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. Their conditions have not yet been disclosed.
The CHP reports that there is no evidence of alcohol or drugs being involved in the crash. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the exact circumstances leading up to the accident.
