Logan Brideau had attended the Osheaga Music Festival, a popular event that takes place on Île Ste-Hélène in Montreal. The festival had concluded, and Brideau was with his friends near the Olympic Basin, located on Île Notre-Dame, when the tragedy occurred.
At approximately 7:45 p.m., Montreal police received a distressing call from Brideau’s friends, reporting that he had disappeared beneath the waters of the basin, a site commonly used for kayaking and rowing competitions. Despite the quick response from the marine rescue team of the Montreal fire department, Brideau’s body was not recovered until 9:00 p.m.
On Monday, the coroner’s office in Quebec officially identified the victim as Logan Christopher Brideau. The details surrounding the incident remain scarce as the investigation continues.
In a statement, the concert promoter Evenko expressed their sorrow, stating, “We are deeply saddened by this tragic death and our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of this young man.” The company also confirmed their cooperation with the ongoing investigation conducted by the SPVM (Service de police de la Ville de Montréal).
