Pedro Castillo and Family Tragedy – Drowning Incident Claims Lives at Quail Creek Reservoir

Quail Creek Reservoir, Utah – In a tragic incident on Friday afternoon, 49-year-old Pedro Castillo and his family lost their lives due to a drowning accident at Quail Creek Reservoir. The unfortunate event unfolded when the Castillo family was paddleboarding and encountered sudden strong wind gusts that threw them off their boards.

According to a press release from Utah State Parks, all three family members were wearing life jackets while paddleboarding around 4:30 p.m. Despite this precaution, the powerful winds swept their paddleboards away, leading to the family being in distress. A law enforcement ranger from the Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation, who witnessed the boards being carried by the wind, acted quickly to respond to the emergency.

The ranger, with the help of a bystander who volunteered, managed to rescue Pedro Castillo’s wife and daughter by bringing them aboard the ranger’s boat. However, Pedro Castillo was later found face down in the water. He had been submerged for approximately thirty seconds before being discovered, as stated in the official release.

The tragic drowning has shocked the local community, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing to determine the exact circumstances that led to the deaths of the Castillo family members.

The Castillo family, remembered fondly by their community, is mourned by friends and loved ones who have expressed their condolences and support during this difficult time.
