Perry Community Mourns the Loss of Retired Firefighter Ronnie Cragen, A Pillar of the Local Volunteer Fire Department

Perry, August 9, 2024 – The Perry community is in mourning following the death of retired firefighter Ronnie Cragen, a long-time member of the Perry Volunteer Fire Department. Ronnie, who was deeply embedded in the fabric of the Perry community, passed away recently, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and service that touched many lives.

The Perry Fire Department announced his passing through a social media post on Friday, expressing their sorrow over the loss of a man who was not only a dedicated firefighter but also an active participant in countless community events. Ronnie’s presence was a constant at these events, and he will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

Ronnie’s son, Tony, also served for many years alongside his father in the Perry Volunteer Fire Department, making their family a cornerstone of the department and the wider community. The outpouring of condolences on social media reflects the impact Ronnie had on those around him.

Kimberly Norman shared her grief, simply stating, "So sorry." Similarly, CR Chuck Mayrand offered his prayers for the family during this difficult time. Many others, like Chloe Flavell and Cheri Provancha, remembered Ronnie as a kind and good man who will be missed by many.

Shari Bell praised Ronnie’s contribution to the fire department, saying, "He was a great addition to the PVFD." Eilene LaRue Anderson also shared her memories, noting that she had known Ronnie since he was a little boy and expressed her condolences with "Prayers and hugs to his family."

The sentiments were echoed by many in the community, with Kymberly Woodhurst and Joyce Jerman highlighting how much Ronnie will be missed. N Kaye Birch expressed deep sorrow, saying, "SO SORRY TO HEAR. R I P RONNIE AND GOD BLESS YOU. AMEN."
