Philadelphia, PA – The Philadelphia community is reeling from the sudden loss of Steven Moultrie, a well-respected figure and member of the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity, who tragically died in a three-vehicle collision on Kelly Drive near the Strawberry Mansion Bridge on Thursday afternoon.
The fatal accident occurred shortly after 3:20 p.m. when a black 2015 Nissan Altima, in which Moultrie was a passenger, attempted an illegal left turn at Reservoir Drive. The Altima collided with a white 2024 Nissan Rogue, causing it to spin and crash into a black 2016 BMW. Moultrie was rushed to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:02 p.m. He was 41 years old.
Steven Moultrie was deeply cherished within his fraternity and the broader Philadelphia community. His fraternity described him as "a beacon of light," highlighting his positive influence on those around him.
The news of Moultrie’s passing has sparked an outpouring of grief on social media. Friends and community members have taken to Facebook to express their condolences and share memories. Nancy Cozzi wrote, "This is so sad. My condolences to his family and friends." Sandra A. Fields, an Uber driver, voiced her sorrow and called for accountability, saying, "So sad. Condolences to his family. That share driver needs to pay with a long prison time. I’m an Uber driver who never takes chances like that."
