Philadelphia Tragedy – Steven Tyree Moultrie Identified as Victim in Fatal Kelly Drive Accident

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – A tragic accident on Kelly Drive has claimed the life of 41-year-old Steven Tyree Moultrie. The incident occurred on Thursday, August 15, 2024, when a black Nissan Altima made an illegal turn onto Reservoir Drive, leading to a fatal three-vehicle collision.

According to authorities, the Altima was traveling southbound on Kelly Drive at approximately 3:22 p.m. when the driver, a 44-year-old man working for a rideshare service, made the illegal left turn. The Altima was struck by a white Nissan Rogue traveling north, causing the Altima to spin and collide with a black BMW. Unfortunately, Moultrie, who was a passenger in the Altima, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead after being transferred to Temple University Hospital.

The driver of the Altima sustained minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital. No other injuries were reported, but the incident has left the community in mourning and has prompted discussions about road safety in the area.

Local residents, including joggers and bikers who frequent Kelly Drive, have expressed concerns about the safety of the road. "I feel like when there’s traffic on this road, it’s really not that bad. But it’s more when there are not many cars on the road, that’s when people start to get a little more heavy on the gas," said Dane Mandato of East Falls. Kevin McLaughlin, another local, suggested that the city consider additional safety measures, such as more signage or barriers, to prevent future accidents.

The tragic loss has also resonated on social media, where individuals have shared their condolences. Sheeba Queen commented, "This is why I hate driving on Kelly Drive," while Sesilia Humaira added, "Prayers for his family and friends! So heartbreaking."

The accident remains under investigation, and charges are pending. Meanwhile, the community grieves the loss of Steven Tyree Moultrie, and discussions about improving road safety in the area continue.
