Port Hope, Ontario – The community of Port Hope is deeply mourning the loss of Rick Traugott, a cherished resident who passed away on August 12, 2024, at the age of 59. Rick, affectionately known as a pillar of the community, left behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and unwavering support for his family and friends.

Rick was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, but his heart always belonged to Port Hope. He was known for his generosity and commitment to helping others, whether it was through his professional work or his personal life. Rick’s strong work ethic and leadership qualities made him a respected figure among his colleagues, while his compassionate nature endeared him to friends and neighbors alike.

Rick’s devotion to his family was unparalleled. He was a loving husband to his wife, Sue, and a proud father to their three children, Jenna, Katie, and Ben. His home was a place filled with love and laughter, reflecting the warmth and joy he brought into the lives of those around him.

On social media, tributes have poured in from friends and acquaintances who remember Rick for his passion and kindness. Rob Morgan shared on Facebook, "My heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to the Traugott family, friends, sports professionals, and former student-athletes who were fortunate to know him. I first met Rick in 2002, and over the years, we became good friends, sharing a deep love for hockey and exploring various ways to approach the game. It makes me sad that he is gone at such a young age. Rest Easy Rick."
