Portsmouth Community Rallies as Search for Missing Woman Lenita Verna Speller Intensifies

Portsmouth, VA – The search for 55-year-old Lenita Verna Speller, missing since July 26, has gripped the Portsmouth community as authorities and residents continue to seek answers regarding her disappearance. Lenita was last seen in the 1500 block of Leckie Street, and the Portsmouth Police Department has issued a call for assistance in locating her.

Despite the time that has passed, there has been no further information regarding what Lenita may have been wearing at the time of her disappearance. Standing approximately 5’6" tall and weighing around 180 pounds, Lenita’s absence has left her family and the community deeply concerned.

On social media, many have expressed their hopes and prayers for Lenita’s safe return. Wayne Jones Jr. shared a simple yet poignant message: "Prayers." Sheila Bundick also expressed her hopes, stating, "Prayers for her to be found safe."

Emily Brazzi-Godwin, who attended high school with Lenita, commented, "I went to high school with her. I pray she is found soon." The sentiment of concern was echoed by Morgan Verdolotti, who remarked, "I hope she’s okay but 3 weeks later and it’s just now coming out," with Amber Walton agreeing, "I thought the same thing."

As the community continues to rally around Lenita’s family, the Portsmouth Police are urging anyone with information about her whereabouts to come forward.
