Rebecca Lynn Brownell, Lifelong Resident of Little Falls, Dies at Age 39, Leaving a Deep Void in Her Community

Little Falls, NY – The community of Little Falls is mourning the sudden and heartbreaking loss of Rebecca Lynn “Becky” Brownell, who passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, August 24, 2024. She was 39 years old. Becky, a beloved resident of Little Falls, leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship, and cherished memories.

Early Life and Education

Born on June 21, 1985, at Ilion Hospital, Becky was the daughter of Thomas J. and Pauline M. Brownell. She grew up in Little Falls, where she attended the Little Falls Central School District and graduated from Little Falls High School in 2003. Becky continued her education at Herkimer County Community College, where she furthered her studies.

Career and Passions

Throughout her life, Becky was known for her vibrant personality and deep connections with those around her. She worked at HBE Insurance Group and the Herkimer and Canajoharie Golf and Country Club, where her dedication and warmth touched many lives. Becky had a free spirit and a big heart, always eager to share her latest adventures with friends. Her greatest joy, however, was being a devoted mother to her two sons, Gabriel and Luke.

A Loving Family and Community

Becky is survived by her parents, Thomas and Pauline Brownell, her sons Gabriel and Luke, her brother Mark Anthony Brownell and his wife Tina Marie, along with her nieces Briella Brownell and Gabreana Ropeter. She also leaves behind many close relatives and friends who will forever hold her memory dear. Becky was preceded in death by her brother Justin, her grandparents, and her aunt Nellie Chadeayne.

Services and Memorials

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, August 30, 2024, at Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations in Little Falls, where a funeral service will follow. Becky will be laid to rest at Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills, alongside her brother and other beloved family members. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Rebecca L. Brownell Memorial Fund.

A Community in Mourning

The news of Becky’s passing has prompted an outpouring of grief and support from the community. Many took to social media to express their condolences and share memories of Becky. Kimberly Demag-Thompson wrote, "OMG I am so sorry to the entire family but especially to her sons who are sadly now without their beautiful mama!" Laura Yerina added, "Thinking of her sons & family."

Mary LaBreche, Michele Tretola Burton, and Rachel Nuborazek-Wilson were among many others who shared their sympathies, with Rachel expressing, "I am at a loss for words, that my tears are conveying everything I want to say… to the entire Brownell family you are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time."

Becky’s passing has left a significant void in the lives of those who knew and loved her. Her memory will be cherished by her family, friends, and the entire Little Falls community.
