Robert “Bob” Krantz, Beloved Boonville Teacher, Passes Away at 71

Boonville, Indiana – The Boonville community mourns the loss of Robert “Bob” Krantz, a cherished former teacher and sports enthusiast, who passed away on August 23, 2024, at the age of 71. Bob died at Woodmont Health Campus, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and kindness.

Born on July 16, 1953, in Evansville, Indiana, Bob was the son of Donald and Beverly Krantz. He graduated from Boonville High School in 1971 and continued his education at the University of Southern Indiana. His passion for teaching led him to earn a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Evansville.

Bob dedicated nearly four decades of his life to teaching at Oakdale Elementary School, where he became a beloved figure to his students and colleagues alike. His patience, kindness, and dedication made him more than just a teacher; he was a mentor and a role model who deeply cared about the well-being and success of his students.

In addition to his teaching career, Bob was known for his love of sports. He was a lifelong fan of the University of Evansville basketball team and a devoted supporter of both the Chicago Cubs and the Los Angeles Dodgers. His enthusiasm for sports extended to motorsports, where he enjoyed fast cars and had a particular interest in IndyCar and NASCAR racing.

Bob’s passing has touched many in the community, and numerous people have shared their condolences and memories on Facebook. Rhonda Raney expressed, "This makes me sad. Have fond memories of working with Bob at Oakdale." Marge Neal offered "Prayers for comfort," and Edna Like remembered him as "a great guy."

Many former students and colleagues also shared their grief. Kendra Murphy recalled, "My 6th grade teacher … he was one of my favorites," and Pudder Ray Joines said, "He was my 6th grade teacher, always enjoyed his presence, awesome dude always willing to help if asked, rest easy sir." Robin Barr Greenlee added, "So sorry to hear this," echoing the sentiments of many who knew Bob.

Bob is survived by his wife of 33 years, Peggy Krantz, their children, Kendra and Kyle Krantz, and his stepchildren, Brooke Wootton and Katie Taylor. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren and his sister, Staci Nyguen.

Bob Krantz will be remembered not only as a dedicated teacher and sports enthusiast but also as a man who cared deeply for his family, friends, and community. His impact will be felt for years to come.
