Rochester, NY – A tragic discovery was made on Tuesday morning when the lifeless body of John Johnson Jr. was found inside a house on Bloomingdale Street. Rochester Police responded to a 911 call at approximately 9 a.m., which alerted them to the situation. Upon arrival, officers found Johnson with significant upper body injuries, leading them to immediately classify the case as a homicide.

The house where Johnson was discovered, situated between North Clinton Avenue and Remington Street, was boarded up, creating the impression of an abandoned property. However, authorities quickly noted that the house was not entirely vacant, as it still had electricity. This unusual circumstance has raised questions about the residence’s occupancy, with RPD Captain Greg Bello confirming that the lights were on inside. Further investigation revealed that at least one person had been living in the house, though it is unclear whether they were residing there legally or squatting. Additionally, a dog was found in the home and has since been taken into care by animal control.

The Rochester Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit is actively investigating the incident, working to determine both the cause of Johnson’s death and the events leading up to it. Detectives are currently canvassing the neighborhood, seeking any information from local residents that could provide insight into this tragic event.

Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the case to contact 911, emphasizing the importance of community assistance in helping to bring those responsible for Johnson’s death to justice. The investigation continues as the community mourns the loss of John Johnson Jr. and seeks answers in the wake of this shocking incident.
