Rockford Resident Chase Higgins Dies in Fatal Shooting on E. State Street

Rockford, Illinois – Chase Higgins, a 27-year-old resident of Rockford, tragically lost his life in a fatal shooting on Saturday night. The incident occurred around 11:15 p.m. on August 24 in a parking lot along E. State Street, near Perryville Road, during a large gathering in a bustling shopping area.

According to the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office, Higgins was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck multiple times by gunfire. Preliminary investigations suggest that a confrontation with others preceded the shooting.
