Sainte Genevieve Community Mourns the Loss of 81-Year-Old Ruth Ann Flieg, Fondly Remembered for Her Kindness and Ribley Soup

Sainte Genevieve, MO – The close-knit community of Sainte Genevieve, Missouri, is mourning the loss of Ruth Ann Flieg, who passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at the age of 81. Ruth, a lifelong resident of Sainte Genevieve, was known for her warmth, generosity, and the love she had for her family and friends.

Born on October 6, 1942, Ruth spent her entire life in Sainte Genevieve, where she became a beloved figure in the community. She was the mother of Tim (Connie) Flieg of Sainte Genevieve, MO, and Kim (Bryan) Boyd of Festus, MO. Ruth was also a proud grandmother and great-grandmother, with her family serving as the center of her world.

Ruth’s impact on her community was evident in the outpouring of love and remembrance shared by friends and family on social media. Sharon Naeger Holtz shared, "What a great lady!!! And yes, her Ribley soup was the best. I loved when she brought some to us at Oberles." Jeannie Bauman expressed her condolences, stating, "Sorry for your loss. Such a sweet lady." The sentiment was echoed by Stacy Linderer, who said, "So was a very special lady, so glad I got to see her jour de fete."

Known affectionately as "Ruthie," she was renowned for her culinary skills, especially her famous Ribley soup, which she often shared with friends and neighbors. Her kindness and generosity left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

The funeral service for Ruth Ann Flieg will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, at the Church of Ste. Genevieve, with Rev. Edward Nemeth officiating. Visitation will take place at Basler Funeral Home from 8:00 am to 9:45 am, followed by the service at 10:00 am. She will be laid to rest at Valle Spring Cemetery in Sainte Genevieve.

As the community gathers to remember Ruthie, the messages of love and support from friends and family serve as a testament to the impact she had on their lives. "Prayers for the family. Ruthie was always a gem!" shared Valerie ‘Richardet’ Besand, while Sharon LaRose added, "She was a special lady and a very kind soul!! She will truly be missed!!"

Ruth Ann Flieg’s legacy of love, kindness, and community spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
