Sallisaw, Oklahoma Mourns the Loss of John Howard Phillips – Funeral Services Scheduled

Sallisaw, Oklahoma – The community of Sallisaw is mourning the loss of John Howard Phillips, a beloved resident and dedicated family man, who passed away on August 14, 2024, at the age of 65. A funeral service to honor his life will be held on Monday, August 19, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw.

Born on September 18, 1958, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, John was a skilled heavy equipment operator who was known for his hard work and dedication. He married Pamela Phillips on August 12, 1977, in Red Oak, Oklahoma, and together they built a life centered around family and love. He is survived by his wife, Pamela, and their three sons: Marty Phillips of Sallisaw, Daniel Phillips of Bixby, and Sammy Phillips of Edmond. John’s legacy extends to his six grandchildren and one great-grandchild, who will carry forward the memory of his love and devotion.

In addition to his immediate family, John is survived by his three sisters: Kristi Walker of Tahlequah, Erna Reeves of Peggs, and Betty Jo Stover, also of Tahlequah. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Adolf Brewer and Betty Hannah Brewer.

A viewing for John Howard Phillips will take place on Sunday, August 18, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during this time.

In remembrance of John, the family will host a Memorial Benefit Luncheon at the Sallisaw VFW on Saturday, August 17, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The luncheon will feature pulled pork, chicken, and sides for $10 per plate, with proceeds going to support the family during this difficult time.

Heartfelt condolences have been pouring in on social media. Noelia Martinez Thomas expressed, “So sorry Pamm. You are in my thoughts and prayers.” Beth Stites Patterson added, “Pam, so very sorry to hear this! Prayers for you and your family.” Laurie Coleman also shared her grief, saying, “I am so so sorry Pamm. Prayers for you and the kids.”

John Howard Phillips will be remembered not only for his hard work and dedication but also for the love and warmth he brought to those around him. His passing leaves a significant void in the lives of his family and the Sallisaw community.
