Search and Rescue Efforts Intensify for Missing Kayaker Jashansdeep Kaur at Long Lake Provincial Park, Halifax

Halifax, NS – Search and rescue teams are tirelessly working to locate 26-year-old Jashansdeep Kaur, who went missing while kayaking at Long Lake Provincial Park on Sunday afternoon. Halifax Regional Police were notified about the incident at 12:40 p.m. and confirmed Kaur’s identity in a news release later that evening.

Kaur, a South Asian woman with a slim build, stands about five feet tall with long dark hair. She was last seen wearing a white tee shirt, black pants, and white and black sneakers. Ground Search and Rescue teams were called in at 3:00 p.m. to assist in the search, as first responder vehicles lined Old Sambro Road near Dentith Road.

Community members and friends have taken to social media to express their concerns and prayers for Kaur’s safe return. Sherri Hayes commented, "Is this the same as from Saturday? I thought that person was rescued. If I’m right, that’s two incidents in two days. Maybe that company that runs that rental service needs to reevaluate their safety procedures. I hope she is found safe."

Other Facebook users have echoed these sentiments, offering prayers and hopes for a positive outcome. Shel Rogers wrote, "This is so sad. Prayers the rescue team finds her safe," while Michelle L Jollymore added, "I pray she’s found safe and sound."

The ongoing search has garnered widespread attention, with many hoping for Kaur’s safe return. Police are urging anyone with information to contact them directly at 902-490-5020 or to provide anonymous tips through Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
